Even before arriving in Chinatown I was already wracking my brain deciding what to have. If only I had 10 stomachs. Unfortunately, I had to settle with one dish; and was that roast pork and duck over rice heavenly.
The rest of the weekend went by in a blur. One meal merged into the next. Even when we weren't hungry, we'd pick up a snack or two in between meals. I tried this new papaya egg custard from TaiPan bakery and loved it, though no one else seemed too impressed. Oh no, could I possibly be morphing into one of those fried rice-eating Americans?
Aside from running and visiting grandparents (who looked much better than expected), we basically stayed in Chinatown. Having lived in NYC for more than 20 years, we've pretty much seen and done everything we care to do. We did, however, venture out of Chinatown once during this whole trip. While waiting to meet up with friends for lunch, we walked north to SOHO and checked out some of the new boutiques. Ended up at Rice to Riches, a rice pudding store.
And saw this sign...
Up close...
