Overwhelmed

Started flipping through "How to Cook Everything", and all I could think about is 'what have I gotten myself into?!  Nothing is simple!'  


There is no such thing as simple cooking aside from making instant noodles, toasting bagels, and frying eggs (which I have problems with from time to time).
  
Either the ingredients are too exotic (e.g., cardamon), the prep too tedious (e.g., cut up a whole chicken), or the cooking time too long (i.e., any length of time more than 40 minutes).  Not to mention the frustration that comes with reading through a recipe and coming across the words "to taste".  I gave up after 5 minutes as it was giving me a headache.  
Will try again tomorrow...
