Since they don't take reservations, J and I went early at 5pm so that we wouldn't be left waiting for a table, especially unappealing after we've fasted all day. The restaurant week deal at Feast was $29 for appetizer, entree, dessert, and a glass of wine they pair with the particular entree you order.
Cambozola Souffle with red wine, dried cherry reduction and walnuts: excellent pairing. The sweetness of the cherry balanced the saltiness of the cambozola.
Taste 9/10
J had the Napoleon of phyllo squares with goat cheese mascarpone, grilled peaches and wild boar bacon: "wholesome yumminess" per J.
Taste: 9/10
Seared Alaskan halibut in oyster-scented broth, over pea shoot risotto and sugar snap peas, garnished with tobiko caviar: the halibut was light, risotto buttery, peas crisp, but the caviar unfortunately didn't add much to the dish. The wine pairing was perfect, though I really don't remember what it was.
Taste 8/10
J had the special which was pork stew with plantains and bean rice: pork was a little tough, plantains hard, but the stew was flavorful.
Taste: 7/10
Verrine of rice pudding, golden raisins, pistachio custard, fresh raspberries and cookie crisp: fresh tasting, especially loved the pistachio custard and golden raisin.
Taste: 9/10
White chocolate raspberry bread pudding with creme Anglaise: J said it actually tasted like bread pudding, unlike the bread pudding he had last night at Bob's.
Taste: 8/10
We will definitely go back, and would safely say that this is the best restaurant we've tried in Tucson so far. Overall would give it 8-9/10. J's actually talking about going back the end of this week, but I really can't think that far ahead.
